27 Aug 2025 - Crafting A Taylor Swift Medley...
...in less than 24 hours!

Every so often, a project lands in the inbox that makes you stop and think: “Right, this is going to be a challenge!” That’s exactly what happened when Troubadour Audio Production was asked to create a backing track medley for a Taylor Swift tribute singer entering a competition.

The brief?
  • No more than 3 minutes long

  • A whopping five songs included

  • No clear idea of which sections or in what order

  • And, just to keep things exciting… a next-day deadline!

Where To Start

Step one was diving head-first into the songs, checking keys and tempos to figure out which tracks could naturally sit side by side. From there, it was all about picking the most iconic moments from each song to make the medley instantly recognisable — without ever feeling rushed.

Making It Punchy

Once the structure was mapped out, it was time to fine-tune the sound. One track had so much reverb it stood out like a sore thumb, so I carefully reduced it until it matched the punchy energy of the others. The aim was to make the medley feel seamless, as if it had always existed in this form.

Finding the Flow

Transitions can make or break a medley. By borrowing signature sounds from certain songs and using them as links, the whole piece flowed smoothly, carrying the listener from one Taylor classic to the next without missing a beat.

The Finishing Touches

A demo was sent over to the client, and she came back with just one small change. Within the hour, that tweak was done and dusted. The response?

💬 “I love it!”

The final medley was clocked in at a precise 2 minutes 59.95 seconds — just a fraction under the 3-minute limit — and sent straight to the competition organisers, ready for her big moment.

Why We Loved This Project

This medley was a perfect example of what we do best at Troubadour Audio Production:

✅ Quick turnaround under pressure
✅ Creative problem-solving
✅ Audio polishing that makes tracks sound stage-ready

It was a thrill to bring five Taylor Swift songs together into a powerful 3-minute performance piece — and even more exciting to know it’ll be heard by competition judges. And we'd like to wish her all the very best for a winning result!
